Salsa dancing enthusiast shows her sexy moves at the festival.

According to the El Paso Times, Salsa dancing enthusiast Laura Madrid, 23, looks forward to showing off her sexy moves at her local festival.

The festival combines Salsa making and Salsa Dancing. Putting Food and Dancing in the same festival seems a very healthy alternative to some festivals. As Laura puts it "I love salsa dancing ... I have a lot more energy, and it helps me keep a small waistline and because you dance with a partner, it is more romantic."

"Salsa Talks" Book wins top book awards

Salsa Talks a book documenting the salsa world and interviews with salsa's superstars wins best coffee table book and best overall book.

Mary Kents book seems to have hit a hot spot with the judges and the public if the reviews on Amazon are to be believed.

Salsa Talks: A Musical Heritage Uncovered As one of the reviewers who gave the book five stars said

I saw this book for the first time on the living room table of a friend's house. I couldn't wait to get my own copy. If you've ever danced salsa, listened to it, or studied its origins, you'll want to own your own copy, too. The book delivers portraits of over 40 outstanding people who were instrumental in making salsa what it is today. Musicians, promoters, managers, writers and others are featured in interviews, very high quality photographs and essays. Some have passed away, others no longer perform. So it is this work that keeps the memory of them alive. The publication is very timely as salsa today is at a crossroads. The creation of this permanent record of salsa's history will enable those who follow the great artists of the 70's and 80's to maintain a connection to the culture. This book is also an excellent historical resource with articles from writers, music historians and musicologists. Very Highly Recommended

History of Salsa

Salsa is not easily defined. Who invented salsa? The Cubans, Puerto Ricans? Salsa is a distillation of many Latin and Afro-Caribbean dances. Each played a large part in its evolution.

Salsa is similar to Mambo in that both have a pattern of six steps danced over eight counts of music. The dances share many of the same moves. In Salsa, turns have become an important feature, so the overall look and feel are quite different form those of Mambo. Mambo moves generally forward and backward, whereas, Salsa has more of a side to side feel.

It is not only Cuban; nevertheless we must give credit to Cuba for ...
